Huset is a building famous to anyone who has spent time in the Polar outpost of Longyearbyen. The building was erected as part of the renaissance of Longyearbyen in the mid-20th century, as an assembly hall or “forsamlingshus”. Built on neutral ground away from the other suburbs of the town, it has been home to many events and services over the years, and your knowledgeable host will lead you through this history. For many different reasons, Huset has been – and still is - an institution in Longyearbyen, an important location for many events – as well as being the post office, school, church, and cinema in different periods. Today, Huset is still a preferred location for events, but is also a must-visit location for those interested in the culinary arts. The experience will combine both the historical and modern aspects of the building. You will enjoy a guided tour and discover the taste of the Arctic with bites from the renowned Restaurant kitchen, as well as alcohol free drinks, prepared by our Sommelier.
