Panorama tour around Isdammen in Advent valley

Easy and short trip suitable for most people. The trip starts by the dog yard in Longyearbyen, where in the summer there is a rich bird life. We follow the western and southern edge of the Isdammen, the lake that provides drinking with water. There is a slow uphill in easy terrain and we follow the pillars of the old transportation system for coal towards Endalen. We are somewhat higher than Isdammen and enjoy the panoramic view over Adventdalen and the mountains on the other side of the valley, amongst others Tenoren and Operafjellet. Details in the terrain provides natural breaks; flora, birds, rock formations and reindeers. The old and protected funicular pillars, used for transporting coal from the mines no 5, 6 and 7 are unique examples of remains of human activity in the area. After a 3 kilometer walk we are by the funicular station in Endalen. From here we have transport back to Longyearbyen by car. On the way back we pass the old northern lights station and the old airport. You do not have to be in great physical shape, but you need good walking boots and warm clothes. The trip is also suitable for families and normal people and is perfect as a taste of Svalbard and to get out of the settlement. (in winter we use headlamps and snow shoes if necessary).
