The day starts early at 08:00, when your guide picks you up from the hotel. We will quickly go through todays program and activities. Once the survival suit has been put on and zipped shut, we will head down to the harbour. We travel across Isfjorden all the way to Billefjorden and Adolfbuta with our open RIB‐boat. There are plenty of wildlife around the fjord at this time of the year, so we may get to observe some arctic birds, walruses, belugas or even the polar bear. Nordenskiöld lodge is situated at the foot of the glacier moraine with a fantastic view right towards the bright blue glacier. The cabin is well hidden in the rough moraine. You can feel the arctic nature and silence around you when you are sitting on the cabin terrace. After arriving to shore of Adolfbukta, we will enjoy expedition lunch right in front of the magnificent Nordenskiöld glacier. After a short introduction to glacier hiking and safety rules, we will gather all necessary equipment and head out to the close by glacier. We will hike up and down on the glacier, learn how to use our equipment and enjoy the magnificent ice around us. After the adventurous trip on the glacier we will enjoy a warm meal while admiring the glacier and wonderful arctic nature surrounding us. We are in luck; the midnight sun illuminates the picturesque scenery all day and night and we get to enjoy the adventure in peace and quiet. Finally, it is time to head back to Longyearbyen by boat and say farewell to Nordenskiold Lodge.
