Join us on a beautiful and relaxing nature hike through the stunning Bjørndalen Valley, where dramatic Arctic landscapes, unique wildlife, and the fascinating history of Svalbard come together.
Your adventure begins with pickup from your accommodation. From there, we’ll drive by minivan along the scenic coastline, passing Vestpynten on our way towards Bjørndalen. As we leave town behind, the landscape quickly transforms into the peaceful and untouched wilderness of the High Arctic.
Once we arrive in the valley, we leave our vehicle behind and begin our walk through one of Svalbard’s most beautiful natural areas. Bjørndalen is known for its rich flora and diverse wildlife, making it a fantastic place to experience the Arctic ecosystem up close. Keep your eyes open for the Arctic fox, Svalbard reindeers, and a variety of Arctic bird species that visit the valley during the summer months.
Throughout the hike, your experienced guide will share fascinating stories about the valley’s unique nature, local wildlife, and the history of Svalbard.
We’ll take plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings, stop for photos, and relax with a warm expedition-style lunch and hot drinks while surrounded by breathtaking Arctic scenery.
On our way back to Longyearbyen, we follow the coastline and keep watch for marine wildlife. With some luck, we may spot beluga whales swimming in the fjord or even a walrus resting along the shore.
With approximately 3–5 km of walking and a maximum elevation gain of around 100 meters, this five-hour experience is a great way to explore the Arctic wilderness at a comfortable pace.
Experience the peaceful side of Svalbard, where wild landscapes, unique wildlife, and unforgettable Arctic moments await!
